History

Centennial Lakes was opened in the spring of 1983 by a group of doctors who had previously developed the St. Cloud Surgery Center, the 2nd ambulatory surgery center in the nation.

The center originally located on Barrie Road in Edina moved in 1990 to the new Centennial Lakes Medical Building on France Ave.   We have been in the same location for the last 18 years.

We were first licensed by the State of Minnesota as an ambulatory surgery center in 1983 as well as certified by Medicare that year.  In December 1992 we became an accredited facility through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

Medical advances in the 1980s and 1990s allowed a number of procedures, previously performed exclusively in hospitals, to be performed in ambulatory surgery centers. Since the beginning, we’ve seen steady growth at Centennial Lakes Surgery, and continued medical advancements have allowed us to safely perform increasingly complex procedures in a variety of specialties.
